How to Turn Off Avast antivirus
Do you want to install new drivers or video programs or other significant applications on your computer but fail whenever you try? Do you know the reason? Well, your antivirus software might be the culprit, as most of the apps or programs do not recognize the antivirus software. So, if your system shows error while installing a new program, opt for disabling your antivirus software tentatively. In case you have Avast Antivirus, below are a few steps for you to follow for the temporary uninstallation of the antivirus program.
Step-1
On your windows taskbar, you will notice a small triangle. Click on it, and you will be redirected to the notification area. Right-click on the icon of Avast Antivirus, and a list of options regarding the security suite will pop-up on your screen.
Step-2
Now you need to click on the Avast Shields Control option. Depending on how long you want to keep your antivirus disabled- disable for 10 minutes or disable for one hour or permanently- click on the appropriate option.
Step-3
When you select the option, a new window shows on the screen where you will be asked to confirm the requested operation. To make the confirmation, click on the YES option.
Step-4
To check if you have successfully uninstalled the antivirus or not, click on the main window of the program. If you see it in red color and saying that ‘All antivirus shields are off’, it means you have successfully uninstalled the program. If you want to reactivate the software, click on the ‘Resolve’ option. After waiting for a few seconds, you will see a window popping up, saying ‘You are protected’.
You can also disable specific shields of Avast Antivirus.
Sometimes, for downloading a specific app or unblocking some websites, turning off specific shields of Avast Antivirus should be all that you can do. Following is the procedure that you can follow for the purpose;
Step-1
Option:1 Go to the Avast user interface, click on the Protection option, and then choose the Core Shields option.
Option:2 You will find the Settings option in the bottom left corner of the Avast interface. Click on it and then select the Components option.
A screen displaying the list of all of the avast shields will pop up on your screen. After locating the shield that you want to turn off, click on their switchers. You will be asked to choose from four options- either disable the shield for ten minutes or one hour or till the computer restarts or permanently. Choose whichever option you prefer.
Step-2
If the switch changes to OFF and you read the message saying ‘File Shield is Off now’, it means you have successfully disabled the shield. For reactivating the shields, click on the ‘TURN ON‘ button. After a few seconds, the button will turn green and you will see the message ‘YOU ARE PROTECTED’ on your screen.

Whatever Avast Antivirus product you use – Avast Premier or Avast Internet Security or Avast Ultimate or Avast Antivirus Pro– you can easily disable the whole program or a few shields whenever you want without any problem.
